Party Accuses Electoral Commission of Unfair Manipulation to Favor NPP Candidate
- The PPP condemns the EC’s decision to rerun elections at Abokobi Women’s Development Centre as unlawful
- PPP urges the EC to respect the voters' choices already made on December 7, 2024.
- The party claims the move is an attempt to manipulate the outcome in favor of NPP’s Mike Oquaye Jnr
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has strongly criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for its decision to rerun elections at the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre in the Dome Kwabenya constituency, calling it unlawful and unjust.
In a statement on December 30, Nana Ofori Owusu, National Chairman of the PPP, urged the EC to reconsider its actions, describing the move as an “unfair manipulation” aimed at influencing the election results.
The PPP claims the decision is a clear attempt to skew the outcome of the parliamentary race in favor of the New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Mike Oquaye Jnr., who they argue was defeated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.
The party further criticized the rerun as “shallow and untenable,” urging the EC to respect the voters’ choices already made on December 7, 2024.
