The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with a deadly shooting incident in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Central Region.
Identified as Awudu Yakubu, Kwabena Essah, Hakeem Bawa, and Issaka Mashual, the suspects are currently assisting police investigations. The incident left one person dead and another injured.
Recovered from the suspects was an AK-47 rifle loaded with 69 rounds of ammunition. While the injured victim is receiving medical care, the deceased has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and order during the ongoing elections, with thorough investigations underway.The shooting targeted the vehicle of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate near the candidate’s residence, sparking panic in the area. Witnesses indicated the violence stemmed from a heated argument among party supporters.
In a separate, unrelated incident earlier that day, a chieftaincy dispute at Odupongpehe Zion Park led to another shooting near a polling station, injuring an innocent bystander.
The police remain steadfast in addressing these cases and ensuring community safety.
