The New Patriotic Party (NPP), under the leadership of Director of Communications Richard Ahiagbah, is aiming high for the upcoming 2024 presidential election, targeting between 300,000 and 500,000 votes in the Volta Region.

This ambitious goal marks a threefold to fivefold increase in voter support compared to the party’s 2020 results.

During a press conference on October 30, 2024, at the NPP Regional Headquarters in Ho, Ahiagbah highlighted the party’s commitment to broadening its appeal nationwide. “Our aim is clear: we expect to secure between 300,000 and 500,000 votes in 2024,” he asserted.

“This isn’t just about numbers; it reflects our belief that our focus on economic empowerment, infrastructure, and sustainable development is resonating with the electorate.”

Ahiagbah emphasized the importance of transforming the Volta Region into a competitive battleground, challenging the NDC’s longstanding influence.

“This strategy will help dismantle the NDC’s unproductive grip on the region, allowing voters to choose based on programs and policies that genuinely uplift their lives.”

He noted that the political landscape is shifting, citing the NPP’s recent successes, including winning the Hohoe seat for the first time in 2020 and gaining ground in Ketu North.

“The NDC may mock our vision for a battleground, but that would be a mistake. The change in voter sentiment began with the last election, and it’s only gaining momentum,” he remarked.

Ahiagbah pointed out a growing electoral renaissance in the Volta Region, fueled by its middle class and youth.

He highlighted how young voters are embracing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s forward-thinking initiatives aimed at equipping them for global opportunities in jobs, education, and business.

The warm reception given to Dr. Bawumia during his recent visit to the region serves as evidence of this shift.

“The NDC is perplexed by the changes in Volta, but as a Voltarian, I see a bright future where our region becomes a competitive electoral market,” he stated.

He urged Voltarians to support the NPP in the upcoming elections, presenting an electoral partnership that promises significant regional development.

“The investments made by the Akufo-Bawumia Administration signal tremendous growth for the Volta Region when Dr. Bawumia takes office,” he concluded.
