- The First Deputy Speaker ruled that only 74 MPs were present, forcing the session to adjourn until Tuesday at 10:00 AM
Parliament of Ghana was forced to adjourn its sitting on Friday, February 7, 2025, following a motion raised by the Minority Caucus over inadequate attendance.
The Minority highlighted that the MPs present fell short of the constitutionally required one-third of the House—approximately 93 members.
Deputy Minority Chief Whip, Habib Iddrisu, raised the issue moments after the session began. Initially, First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor dismissed the concern, allowing proceedings to continue.
However, after 30 minutes of persistent objections, the Speaker acknowledged the absence of quorum, confirming only 74 MPs were present instead of the minimum 91 required.
The session was subsequently adjourned to Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
