Manchester United ended their year-long winless run in European competition with a commanding 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League at Old Trafford.

Amad Diallo was the hero, scoring both goals in the second half his header in the 50th minute and a deflected shot in the 77th minute.

This win marked United’s first European triumph since October 2023, a much-needed boost for their ambitions in the tournament.

Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has overseen two wins in three games, expressed relief after addressing the team’s struggles in the dressing room.

With one more match against Leicester before his temporary tenure ends, Van Nistelrooy is setting up the team for a smooth transition to new manager Ruben Amorim.

The victory also came in the wake of Erik ten Hag’s dismissal after a poor start to the season, leaving United in 14th place in the Premier League and struggling in the Europa League.
