The win against Brentford has alleviated some of the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
Brentford drew first blood just before halftime, with Ethan Pinnock scoring from a powerful header while United’s Matthijs de Ligt was off the field receiving treatment for a head injury.
However, the Red Devils struck back quickly, as Alejandro Garnacho leveled the score with a fierce shot early in the second half.
The tide turned decisively in the 63rd minute when Bruno Fernandes delivered a clever backheel assist to Rasmus Højlund, who elegantly chipped the ball over Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, to clinch the victory.
Manchester United will face Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday before heading to West Ham United for their next Premier League match.
Brentford, on the other hand, will host newly-promoted Ipswich Town at home next Saturday.
