The Majority Caucus in Parliament is set to restructure its leadership, with plans to announce its new front bench on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

This move follows appeals from the Minority Caucus, urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to clarify the leadership within the Majority to ensure smooth legislative operations.

The decision gains prominence in the context of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Majority Leader, being confirmed as Minister for Finance, and Governs Agbodza, the Majority Chief Whip, as Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways.

Raising the issue in Parliament, Kpandai MP Matthew Nyindam described the current state of the Majority as akin to “a sheep without a shepherd,” highlighting the urgent need for leadership clarity.

“We are ready to support government business, but we don’t know who is leading us. The black seat is empty, and the House cannot function like this. Leadership must be defined,” he stressed.

In response, Dr. Ato Forson assured Members of Parliament that the Majority’s leadership would be formally designated by the following day, adding, “I am still the leader of the House, and we will address these concerns tomorrow.”
