President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to unite in prayer and fasting as the nation faces difficult challenges ahead after the 2024 elections.

In his first address of the new year, Mahama, who is set to take office next week following his decisive victory in the December 7 elections, acknowledged that while the electoral process was challenging, the real work begins now.

He emphasized the importance of collective faith, urging the nation to pray and fast even more to navigate the tasks before them.

“The easy part is over—the campaign and elections were the simpler phases. Now, the real work begins. If we prayed and fasted for a successful election, now is the time to intensify our prayers and fasting, so that God will elevate our nation and make it the ‘Black Star’ of Africa again,” Mahama said.

The president-elect made these comments during an end-of-year service at an Assemblies of God Church in Tamale on December 31.

He stressed that national unity and collaboration would be key to addressing Ghana’s challenges, urging all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation, to work together for the greater good of the country.

Mahama’s call to action comes as the nation faces significant economic and social challenges that will require joint efforts from all sectors of society.
