Asante Kotoko has been granted approval by the family of Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley, to organize a one-week observance in his honor.

The commemoration will take place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Heroes Park, spanning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nana Pooley, a passionate supporter of the Porcupine Warriors, tragically lost his life after being stabbed during a violent incident in Nsoatre. The attack occurred during Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC, a game marred by unrest.

In a heartfelt tribute, a vigil was held last Sunday, drawing fans, players, coaching staff, and club officials together to pay their respects.

The shocking circumstances surrounding his death have sparked national outrage, prompting the suspension of the league and triggering urgent discussions on reform between clubs and the Ghana Football Association.

Investigations into the tragedy are ongoing, with several suspects, including Nsoatreman FC owner and former Sunyani West MP, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, arrested and granted bail as authorities seek justice.
