Gov’t to Deploy 24/7 Fire Brigades in Markets to Combat Infernos
In a bid to curb frequent market fires, the Interior Ministry is partnering with the Youth Development Ministry to train and deploy fire brigades for round-the-clock surveillance and rapid response.

The Interior Ministry, led by Minister Muntaka Mubarak, is launching a nationwide initiative to deploy 24-hour fire brigades in markets to curb the frequent outbreaks that have devastated businesses.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development, the plan will engage beneficiaries under the Youth Employment module, equipping them with fire safety training to assist in emergency response.
This proactive measure comes in the wake of recent fire incidents, including the destruction of the Blue Light section of Kumasi’s Central Business District.
Mubarak emphasized the need for a sustainable approach to fire prevention, noting that trained youth personnel will complement firefighters to ensure markets are manned around the clock.
“We cannot rely on firefighters alone due to limited numbers. By integrating trained youth into fire safety efforts, we can swiftly respond to incidents before they escalate,” he stated.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships in tackling market fires across the country.
