Kofi Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, has advised against using an adversarial approach to tackle internal issues within the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
He stressed the importance of cooperation and proactive problem-solving in addressing concerns.
Over the years, there have been ongoing rumors of power struggles and conflicting interests, especially between the Ministry and the GFA. Despite this, Adams emphasized that confrontation should only be a last resort.
Adams speaking in an interview, highlighted the need for collaboration with various stakeholders to resolve sector issues. “As a minister overseeing sports, there are many federations to engage with. Adopting an antagonistic stance should never be the first option,” he remarked.
Adams acknowledged the existence of challenges but reaffirmed that his focus is on addressing these challenges rather than blaming individuals.
“I recognize the issues, but the individuals aren’t the problem. The priority is to identify the problems and find solutions,” he explained.
Nevertheless, the Minister noted that those who continually block progress may themselves become part of the problem. “If someone continues to impede efforts to resolve issues, they are part of the problem, and in such cases, we will address them accordingly,” he added.
Adams’ statements come amid continued discussions on reform and the need for accountability in Ghana’s sports administration.
