Black Stars Budget Will Be Shared at the Right Time – Kofi Adams Affirms

Sports Minister Kofi Adams Addresses Calls for Immediate Budget Disclosure, Promises Full Transparency After September Matches

Story Highlights
  • Minister Kofi Adams rejects premature release of the Black Stars' budget
  • Full transparency will be provided once national team activities are completed
  • No delays expected in presenting the budget for the Black Stars' September fixtures

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has rejected calls for the immediate release of the budget allocated for the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures against Chad and Madagascar.

Amid growing demands for transparency in the sports sector, many have pushed for the government to disclose how funds are being spent on the national football team.

In an interview, Adams explained that revealing the budget at this point would be premature. “You’ll know it when the time comes. I’m saying that I will make it public. Has the National Team ceased playing? We have the next assignment in September, and we will surely make it public,” he said.

Adams further clarified that the current budget is still in draft form, and releasing it now could lead to unnecessary speculation. “It would be unfair to make a draft budget public. I’m not hiding it,” he added.

The minister assured that once all activities for the national team are complete, full disclosure will be made.

He also guaranteed that there would be no delay in presenting the budget for the Black Stars’ September fixtures, emphasizing, “There’s no way I’m going to allow the Ghana Football Association to delay in presentation of a budget for the September round of matches.”
