In a disturbing incident from Nkotompo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, a 35-year-old woman named Mena Efua is accused of selling her two-week-old baby for GH₵300.
The suspect’s sister, Maame Esi, revealed that she helped Mena deliver the baby at home last week but was alarmed when the infant went missing shortly afterward.
After questioning her sister, Maame Esi claims Mena confessed to giving the baby to an unidentified individual in exchange for cash, although she has not disclosed the person’s identity.
Initially, Mena suggested that she handed the baby over to a nurse who claimed she could find a buyer, but she has since retracted this information, stating that the baby is now supposedly in Accra without providing further details.
Nearly three weeks after the birth, the baby remains unaccounted for, prompting the family to seek assistance in locating the child.
The case has been reported to the Sekondi Police and is now under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
