Deadly Encounter: Police Gun Down Robbery Suspect on Wenchi-Awisa Road
Late-night patrol halts highway robbery, leaving one suspect dead while accomplices flee the scene

Police in Wenchi, Bono Region, shot and killed a suspected armed robber in the early hours of Saturday, December 28, along the Wenchi-Awisa road.
A police source confirmed that the incident occurred around 3:40 am and that the suspect’s body has been sent to the Wenchi Government Hospital mortuary.
The deceased was part of a gang of four armed robbers who targeted passengers traveling on Sprinter and Yutong buses. The gang’s activities were interrupted by a police night patrol team near the Awisa cemetery, sparking a gunfight.
While the rest of the robbers escaped, police recovered a locally made single-barrel gun, two Itel phones, a power bank, six BB cartridges, and undisclosed amounts of money. Fortunately, all passengers emerged unscathed.
Investigations are ongoing, and the police continue their efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
