Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has confirmed his intention to run for the National Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2026 elections.
The revelation came from Prophet Nigel Gaisie, founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel, during an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Morning Show.
Prophet Gaisie shared that Chairman Wontumi personally informed him of his decision to contest for the esteemed position and requested his prayers and blessings as he prepares for this political journey.
“I am sharing this with you because Chairman Wontumi told me he will contest for the NPP National Chairman position in 2026. He asked for my prayers, and I will do so,” Prophet Gaisie stated.
Chairman Wontumi, recognized for his influential role as the Ashanti Region Chairman of the NPP, has received both support and criticism during his leadership. His decision to pursue the national position is expected to stir significant political interest as the race heats up.
With Wontumi’s plans now public, the anticipation for the NPP’s leadership contest in 2026 is set to intensify, and it remains to be seen how this move will shape the party’s future.
