Ashanti Region Fire Service Receives About 100 Prank Fire Distress Calls in 24 Hours – Commander
ACFOII Peter Teteh Denounces False Alarms, Urges Public Support for Firefighters

- 100 prank fire calls daily waste resources and delay real emergency response
- Firefighters always carry water, dismissing public claims of arriving empty
- Public urged to support firefighters, as fire prevention is a shared duty
The Ashanti Regional Fire Service Commander, ACFOII Peter Teteh, has revealed that the Service receives approximately 100 prank fire distress calls every 24 hours.
Speaking on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen show with Kwame Tanko on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, ACFOII Teteh lamented the negative impact of such false alarms.
He stressed that these pranks lead to unnecessary fuel wastage and could potentially deprive individuals in genuine distress of critical emergency response.
He dismissed claims by some residents that firefighters often arrive at fire scenes without water in their tenders.
“It is not true that our tenders don’t have water. How can we arrive at a fire scene without water and then leave? People should stop making such claims,” he stated.
ACFOII Teteh further urged residents to support and motivate the fire service personnel, emphasizing that fire prevention is a collective responsibility.
“We are your friends. Fire prevention is a shared responsibility,” he concluded.
