AG to Afenyo-Markin: Stop Tarnishing the Image of Security Officers

Attorney General fires back at Minority Leader over theft allegations against National Security operatives

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has strongly criticized Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for making allegations against National Security operatives regarding a search at the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

Afenyo-Markin alleged that security personnel stole valuables, including jewellery and cash belonging to Addison’s wife, during the operation.

At a press conference on Monday, March 24, 2025, Dr. Ayine dismissed the claims as unfounded and an “insult to the security service.”

“If Afenyo-Markin is challenging me, I will release the recording. He must stop maligning law enforcement officers who are carrying out their duties and refrain from casting aspersions on me for my work,” Dr. Ayine stated.

He reassured the public that all investigative procedures were conducted ethically and in the nation’s best interest.
