We’ve Successfully Switched to a New Plant; Kumasi’s Power Woes Are Over” – Energy Minister Assures

Successful switch to a 145 MDA transformer promises reliable electricity for residents

Residents of Kumasi can finally expect a stable power supply following the successful transition to a new 145 MDA transformer, replacing the old 66 NDA transformer.

The Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Jinapor, assured the public that the upgrade was crucial to meet the region’s growing electricity demand.

Mr. Jinapor acknowledged the temporary outages experienced during the switch but confirmed that the transition is now complete, stabilizing the power situation.

He emphasized that while Ghana generates sufficient electricity, there is a need to strengthen transmission and distribution infrastructure to avoid future disruptions.

Addressing the long-term solution, the Minister highlighted plans to establish a second gas processing plant to enhance fuel reliability and reduce dependency on expensive imported fuels.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to bolster the national transmission grid, ensuring consistent power supply across the country.

Kumasi residents can now anticipate a more reliable power supply, thanks to the new infrastructure upgrade.
