- The investiture ceremony for Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor has been postponed
- Allegations of academic promotion irregularities have led to a court injunction filed by UPSA alumnus Rashid Ibrahim
- The university has not addressed the legal claims or their potential impact on the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has postponed the investiture of its incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, originally scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2024.
In a statement, the university’s registrar announced that a new date for the ceremony would be communicated soon, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
While the official notice did not disclose reasons for the delay, reports suggest the postponement may stem from a legal dispute. Allegedly, Rashid Ibrahim, an alumnus of UPSA, has filed a court injunction challenging the ceremony, questioning the academic promotion of Professor Mawutor.
The university has yet to address these claims or clarify their potential implications for the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment.
