Two Shot Dead in Binduri Market Shooting Amid Bawku Conflict
Gunmen on motorbikes storm Atuba market, killing a veterinary officer and a pastor as tensions from the Bawku conflict escalate.

Two individuals were fatally shot in Atuba, a suburb of the Binduri District in the Upper East Region, in a suspected escalation of the prolonged Bawku conflict.
The tragic incident took place on Monday, March 17, 2025, when gunmen on motorbikes stormed a bustling marketplace and opened fire, killing the victims instantly.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammed, a veterinary officer, and a local pastor.
While the exact motive behind the attack remains uncertain, authorities believe it is linked to the persistent Bawku crisis, which has claimed about 76 lives since its resurgence in October 2024.
Efforts to restore peace continue, with prominent Ghanaian leaders, including the Asantehene, actively mediating to resolve the conflict.
