Two young individuals, a motor mechanic apprentice and a makeup artist apprentice, lost their lives on Wednesday evening after being struck by an Immigration Authority vehicle.
The incident occurred in Okanta, a suburb of Kadjebi, when the Immigration vehicle, driven by the commander of the Menuso border, veered off course during an overtaking maneuver.
The vehicle then collided with the two pedestrians, tragically resulting in their deaths.
The community reacted with fury, setting the Immigration vehicle ablaze. Eyewitnesses allege that the actions and words of the immigration officials further inflamed public sentiment.
The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for improved road safety measures and responsible driving.
