This elections is about the economy and not your ‘useless’ 50 questions – Mahama tells Bawumia

- He emphasized the dramatic rise in Ghana's debt and inflation as critical issues
- Mahama echoes the sentiment of past campaigns
In a rally in Savelugu, John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, urged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate, to prioritize pressing economic issues instead of sidestepping them with what he described as “useless” questions.
Mahama’s remarks came after Bawumia responded to Mahama’s five crucial economic inquiries with a lengthy list of 50 counter-questions.
Mahama reiterated his initial queries, asking why the exchange rate has soared to GH¢17 to the dollar, why national debt has ballooned from GH¢120 billion to GH¢767 billion in just eight years, and why inflation has surged to 54%.
“I woke up to find 50 questions from him. It seems our Vice President has just memorized these like poems from primary school,” Mahama stated.
He emphasized that these questions do not address the real concerns facing Ghanaians today.
Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1992 U.S. election slogan, “It’s the economy, stupid!” Mahama insisted, “This election is about the economy, not trivial matters like who built compost plants.”
He called on Bawumia to engage directly with the pressing economic issues affecting the country.
