Adu-Boahene, Wife Sue AG & EOCO Over ‘Harsh’ GH¢200m Bail
Former NSB boss and wife challenge ‘harsh’ bail conditions, accuse state of violating their rights

The High Court is set to rule on a bail request filed by the legal team of Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng.
Currently held in custody, the couple is challenging what their lawyers describe as “excessively punitive” bail conditions imposed by prosecutors. The Attorney-General and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) are named as respondents in the case.
Their defense argues that the GH¢120 million bail for Adu-Boahene and GH¢80 million for his wife is not only excessive but also a strategic attempt to bypass constitutional limits on detention.
They claim the conditions effectively extend their clients’ incarceration beyond the 48-hour legal threshold without trial.
“The Respondents, with a clear intent to detain the Applicants beyond the constitutional 48-hour limit, have imposed unreasonable and burdensome bail conditions,” the application states.
The legal team further accuses authorities of violating their clients’ right to liberty, obstructing due process, and restricting access to proper legal counsel.
