Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on security services and media personnel participating in Monday’s special voting exercise to prioritize economic realities when casting their votes.

Speaking in Cape Coast on Sunday, December 1, after meeting with regional Muslim leaders, she emphasized the importance of fairness.

She urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to uphold transparency in the process. She also encouraged the media to ensure unbiased coverage of the elections.

Addressing security services, Professor Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the need to consider the prevailing economic hardships while making their decision, suggesting that these challenges reflect on governance and leadership choices.

She further criticized the electoral system’s changes, expressing concerns over its implications for voter education and accessibility.

Recalling the NDC’s tenure in government, she noted that no media or police personnel faced persecution for their work, contrasting it with current concerns over media freedom and security.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang reiterated the NDC’s commitment to fairness and urged all stakeholders to approach the elections with integrity.
