Sekondi High Court Lifts Injunction, Allows NDC's Joana Gyan Cudjoe to Contest Amenfi Central Seat
- The Sekondi High Court has lifted the injunction that barred Joana Gyan Cudjoe
- The case was presided over by His Lordship George K. Gyan-Kontoh
- This ruling allows Joana Gyan Cudjoe to continue her candidacy for the Amenfi Central seat
The Sekondi High Court has lifted the injunction that barred Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Amenfi Central, from participating in the upcoming parliamentary election.
The ruling, made on Monday, November 11, 2024, followed an earlier adjournment in which the NDC sought to have the injunction lifted and the disqualification dismissed.
The case was presided over by His Lordship George K. Gyan-Kontoh.
During a previous court session, Edudzie Tamakloe, one of Cudjoe’s lead counsels, urged the court to address the disqualification issue promptly, warning that further delays could disenfranchise his client and hinder her participation in the December 7 election.
His Lordship Gyan-Kontoh agreed to expedite the review of the case and encouraged both parties to consider an out-of-court settlement.
Despite efforts to reach a resolution outside of court, negotiations did not succeed, leading to today’s decision to lift the injunction.
This ruling allows Joana Gyan Cudjoe to continue her candidacy for the Amenfi Central seat.
Speaking to the media after the ruling, Cudjoe expressed her gratitude, stating, “We thank God for everything that has happened today, especially my new lawyers who came in to rescue me. I appreciate God and all the NDC members, executives, and everyone in the Western Region NDC. I am very happy.”
