Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called on President John Dramani Mahama to immediately reverse the mass dismissals triggered by the Chief of Staff’s directive.

This follows the government’s decision to revoke all appointments made after December 7, 2024.

In a letter to the President on Tuesday, February 18, Afenyo-Markin emphasized that such a directive would affirm Mahama’s commitment to the rule of law and the constitutional rights of all citizens.

He urged the President to take swift action by reinstating all affected employees to their respective roles, ensuring that the disruption to their lives and families is rectified without delay.

According to him, this move would restore public confidence and demonstrate the administration’s dedication to justice and fairness.

Furthermore, he recommended that the Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment be tasked with overseeing compliance across public institutions and submitting a detailed report within 30 days to both the President and Parliament.

Afenyo-Markin stressed that addressing this issue promptly would not only prevent prolonged legal battles but also solidify Mahama’s reputation as a leader committed to good governance, inclusivity, and the rule of law.
