Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, has refuted claims made by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he is involved in partisan politics.

During a campaign visit to Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah accused Gyebi II of compromising his neutrality by allegedly supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He warned that such involvement could undermine Gyebi II’s role as a mediator in the ongoing parliamentary impasse, potentially damaging the credibility of the House of Chiefs and affecting Ghana’s democratic processes.

In response, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II invited Nketiah to take legal action if he believes there is evidence of any political alignment on his part.

“It’s not true. If he thinks it is, he can go to court. The Supreme Court has established guidelines for chiefs, so if I am seen wearing any party’s paraphernalia or campaigning for a party, he can report me to the police or take me to court,” Gyebi II stated.

He challenged Nketiah to provide evidence, asking, “Where has he seen me engaging in such activities or wearing any partisan paraphernalia? Nowadays, every Ghanaian has a cell phone, so if someone sees such actions, they should take a picture and share it with the world.”
