Story Highlights
  • Boamah refutes claims that the NPP government mismanaged the economy
  • Criticizes Mahama for narrowing corruption issues
  • Questions why the President ignored the controversial withdrawal of court cases in his address

The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, Hon. Patrick Boamah, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), describing it as unbalanced and lacking acknowledgment of the previous government’s efforts.

Speaking to journalists, Hon. Boamah refuted President Mahama’s claim that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had mismanaged the economy. He argued that while the economy faced challenges, the previous administration had made provisions, including over GHC 68 billion in the first quarter of 2025, to support government expenditures such as workers’ salaries.

The MP also took issue with the President’s handling of corruption-related matters, particularly within the National Service Scheme, emphasizing that such issues should not be politicized.

Additionally, he criticized Mahama for remaining silent on the Attorney General’s controversial withdrawal of certain court cases in his address.

Hon. Boamah maintained that a fair and balanced SONA should have recognized the contributions of the previous administration rather than focusing solely on criticism.
