President John Dramani Mahama has called on the newly sworn-in members of the Council of State to go beyond symbolic roles and provide meaningful, non-partisan counsel on governance, policy, and national development.

Speaking at their swearing-in on Tuesday, February 18, Mahama emphasized that the Council should serve as a fountain of wisdom, leveraging their diverse expertise to guide the executive arm of government.

He described them as a distinguished body of individuals with integrity, experience, and sound judgment.

He stressed that the current national climate—marked by economic difficulties, social cohesion concerns, and the need for stronger democratic institutions—demands selfless service, constructive dialogue, and actionable contributions.

“The Council’s role is not just ceremonial; it carries a profound responsibility,” Mahama stated, urging members to ensure their guidance is not just rhetoric but transformative, helping to steer the nation toward progress.
