‘Mahama Is Now ‘Terminator 1’ – Minority Blasts Over Job Dismissals
The Minority accuses former President John Mahama of mass public sector layoffs, warning that his policies will worsen unemployment rather than create sustainable jobs.

- Minority argues that firing workers only to rehire later is not real job creation
- Claims Mahama’s policies will deepen economic hardship for young Ghanaians
- Reminds Mahama of his 2016 stance on public sector hiring under outgoing governments
The Minority has slammed former President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly orchestrating mass dismissals in the public sector, branding him as “Terminator 1” for his approach to employment.
At a press conference on Monday, March 3, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam criticized Mahama’s policies, arguing that they fuel job insecurity among Ghanaian youth rather than fostering genuine employment growth.
“The systematic termination of young Ghanaians from their jobs, a trend that has earned Mahama the nickname ‘Terminator 1,’ signals a troubling future. Sacking workers and later replacing them does not equate to job creation. What Ghanaians need are fresh opportunities, not a cycle of dismissals and replacements,” Dr. Adam stated.
He further ridiculed Mahama’s proposed policies, including the so-called “nkoko nkitinkiti”, asserting that they lack the capacity to generate sustainable jobs. Instead, he accused the former president of manipulating employment statistics by first dismissing workers and later rehiring others.
Dr. Adam also highlighted Mahama’s inconsistency, recalling that in 2016, he defended an outgoing government’s right to hire employees up until the final hours of its tenure. He warned that the current wave of dismissals contradicts Mahama’s pledge to address unemployment, pushing more Ghanaians into hardship.
