Former First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has been actively engaging with queen mothers across the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions, urging them to support her husband, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
During her visits to Sunyani, Kenyasi, and Techiman, she reminded the traditional leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s manifesto commitments, emphasizing the need for their votes to fulfill these promises.
The campaign, which promotes the #Mahama4Change2024 message, also highlights Mrs. Mahama’s dedication to collaborating with Ghanaians to “Build the Ghana we want.”
Speaking to queen mothers in these regions, Mrs. Mahama received praise for her husband’s past achievements, such as the introduction of allowances for paramount queen mothers, buses for regional associations, and various infrastructural projects like the Mahama E-Blocks, educational facilities, health centers, and road developments.
However, the queen mothers voiced concerns over the lack of progress and development since the creation of the new regions, urging that unfinished projects like the Wenchi and Ofuman roads, as well as the Wenchi SHS girls’ dormitory, be resumed under Mahama’s leadership.
Mrs. Mahama, in turn, was commended for her past contributions, including her efforts to empower women and recognize the role of queen mothers.
The queen mothers also called for increased representation of women in the next NDC administration, stressing that Ghanaian women are capable of thriving at all levels of governance if given the chance.
