Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Senior Campaign Adviser to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has strongly criticized former Environment Minister Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng for his recent remarks about the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ing. Agyepong called Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments, which labeled the party as “disunited” and “fragmented,” unacceptable.
In an interview with JoyNews, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng expressed his disillusionment with the NPP, citing a decline in the party’s commitment to principles like the rule of law and the separation of powers.
He also voiced frustration over legal actions taken against him by party members involved in his environmental violations report.
However, Ing. Agyepong, speaking in an interview, refuted these claims, insisting that the NPP remains united despite its long tenure in office.
He expressed disappointment with Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments, especially considering the latter’s time as a cabinet minister.
“Could he have described the party or government in the same way while he was part of it?” Agyepong questioned.
He further questioned the former minister’s loyalty to the NPP, highlighting that Frimpong-Boateng never voiced concerns about the party’s direction while benefiting from a ministerial position. “When you were enjoying your position, you kept quiet. That shows a lack of principle,” Agyepong stated.
Agyepong suggested that if Prof. Frimpong-Boateng truly believes the NPP no longer reflects his values, he should resign rather than criticize from within. “If you lose your position and start throwing shades, then that’s not right,” he remarked.
Agyepong concluded by reaffirming that the NPP has weathered challenges and remained strong under its leadership, guiding the party to electoral victories.
