Acting Head Coach and Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, believes the current needs of the players extend beyond tactical guidance, emphasizing the importance of emotional support and understanding during the club’s challenging season.

Reflecting on Asante Kotoko’s struggles, which include a recent four-game winless streak and overall inconsistency, Zito stressed that his approach will prioritize the players’ emotional well-being alongside the technical aspects of coaching.

“This time it’s not coaching they need it, they need me to be their father. They need me to be their friends. And they need me as they are. I have to come low to their level to get what I want,” Zito stated, highlighting his intention to connect with the players on a more personal level.

Zito believes that the pressure of underperforming for a prestigious club like Asante Kotoko takes a significant emotional toll on the players, particularly when they face public criticism both on and off the field. His approach suggests a recognition that fostering a supportive and understanding environment is crucial to helping the team overcome their current difficulties.
