“I have also received a congratulatory call from President Akufo-Addo. He graciously extended his congratulations to me. We had the opportunity to discuss matters relating to the joint transition team. I conveyed my sincere regards to him and expressed my readiness for us to work together to ensure a smooth transition process in the best interest of the Ghanaian people,” he said.

Mr. Mahama added that he and Akufo-Addo agreed on an early inauguration of the joint transition team, potentially as soon as Wednesday, 11 December 2024.

However, Mahama noted that the results declared by the Electoral Commission show that the NDC, with him as leader, has achieved one of the most emphatic victories in the electoral history of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

“Ghanaians have bestowed upon us a very outstanding mandate. I am honored and humbled to receive such overwhelming endorsement from the good people of Ghana,” he stated.
