There is increased security at Parliament to prevent the four suspended MPs from entering the chamber ahead of Tuesday’s sitting.

The lawmakers were suspended for two weeks by Speaker Alban Bagbin following their involvement in a violent confrontation during the vetting of ministerial nominees on January 30 at the Appointments Committee session.

As Parliament prepares for its 12:00 noon proceedings, a heavy police presence can be seen, with barricades set up at various sections of the building.

Meanwhile, the Minority is protesting the suspension, with members dressed in red and black, chanting patriotic songs and calling for the reversal of Speaker Bagbin’s “unilateral” decision.
