Ignatius Baffour Awuah Granted Bail in High-Profile “Pooley” Murder Case

Former Labour and Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah has been granted bail of GHC 500,000 with two sureties in connection to the “Pooley” murder case.

Co-accused Joseph Kyeremeh also received bail, and both are set to reappear at the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Baffour Awuah, charged with “abetment to commit crime, to wit murder” under sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act of 1960 (Act 29), was arrested alongside two others, including Agyemang Duah Owusu, who has been remanded in police custody.

The arrests stem from violent disturbances during a league match between Nsoatreman F.C. and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, Bono Region. Baffour Awuah, a former MP for Sunyani West and President of Nsoatreman F.C., has been ordered by the court to surrender his passport for 14 days and is barred from traveling outside the Sunyani Municipality without judicial approval.
