Hajj Village is a Business, Not a Government Project – Kwakye Ofosu
Minister dispels claims of government funding, says GACL's project is a strategic commercial investment

- Hajj Village is a fully commercial project by GACL, not financed by public funds
- The facility is designed to generate profit by catering to Ghanaian pilgrims
- GACL sees the project as a long-term investment, similar to Terminal 3’s VIP lounge
Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has reaffirmed that the Hajj Village project is strictly a commercial venture by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).
Addressing concerns about its funding and management, he emphasized that the project operates on business principles rather than government subsidies or political influence.
Speaking in an interview on March 3, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu dismissed claims that public funds were used for the facility, which serves as a transit hub for Ghanaian pilgrims traveling to Mecca.
He highlighted that GACL, as a commercial entity, strategically invests in revenue-generating projects to sustain its operations.
Using Terminal 3 as an example, he noted that GACL had successfully undertaken similar ventures, including an exclusive VIP lounge for premium travelers. He further justified the Hajj Village project as a calculated move to tap into the annual pilgrimage market, ensuring financial sustainability for the company.
