Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor has emerged victorious in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, unseating incumbent MP George Mireku Duker of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a dramatic 2024 election outcome.
Provisional results from all 263 polling stations reveal that Salifu Taylor, running as an independent candidate, secured 35,906 votes (47.11%), marking a decisive triumph. Mireku Duker garnered 27,404 votes (35.96%), while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Joy Joycelyn Andoh, received 12,903 votes (16.93%).
This result signifies a major shift in voter sentiment, ending Mireku Duker’s tenure as MP, which began in 2016. Sheikh Salifu Taylor expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters, pledging to lead inclusively and focus on sustainable development for the constituency.
