Electoral Commission Confirms Resolution of All Discrepancies in 2024 Provisional Voter Register
- All discrepancies in the 2024 Provisional Voter Register fully addressed
- This initiative follows concerns raised by the opposition NDC
- She highlighted the EC's diligent efforts to rectify errors
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has assured the public that all discrepancies in the 2024 Provisional Voter Register have been fully addressed.
After a thorough review over the past two weeks, the EC confirmed that any identified anomalies have been corrected, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral roll.
This initiative follows concerns raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which had called for a forensic audit due to doubts about the initial accuracy of the provisional voter register.
During a live broadcast at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa emphasized the Commission’s commitment to building public confidence in the electoral process.
She highlighted the EC’s diligent efforts to rectify errors, reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to transparency, fairness, and integrity in Ghana’s democratic systems.
Mensa assured voters that necessary corrections have been made to ensure an accurate voter register for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“Over the past two weeks, we have focused on cleaning the voter register to ensure the accuracy of the information presented. Every applicant who registered in 2023/2024 is included in the voter register,” she stated.
“We are confident that the revised Provisional Voter Register we present today is a significant improvement over the one shown during the exhibition exercise. Most discrepancies identified have been resolved, as promised.”
From October 15 to October 19, registered voters will have a second opportunity to review their details online and report any issues at district offices.
Additionally, Mensa announced that hard copies of the voter register will be provided to various political parties, along with a template for reporting discrepancies.
