The National Education Reform Committee has received 1,501 suggestions from Ghanaians at home and abroad since its inauguration by President John Mahama, according to committee member Dr. Samuel Awuku.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the committee’s first public hearing in Ho on Tuesday, February 18, Dr. Awuku emphasized that these contributions provide crucial insights for overhauling Ghana’s education system.

“So far, we have received exactly 1,501 responses from both across the country and the diaspora,” he revealed.

Among the major concerns raised are reviews of the Free Senior High School program, the school feeding initiative, school governing boards, leadership in schools, and overall improvements in education quality.

The committee’s public hearings will continue in the Western Region after the Ho session, running from February 18 to 19.

President John Mahama established the eight-member committee to spearhead a national education reform initiative, focusing on reshaping policies at the basic and secondary levels to enhance Ghana’s educational landscape.
