President John Dramani Mahama has pardoned Sammy Gyamfi, the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, following public backlash over a viral video showing him handing over an undisclosed sum of U.S. dollars to controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa.

The video sparked national uproar, with civil society groups and opposition lawmakers demanding Gyamfi’s dismissal, citing potential violations of the Foreign Exchange Act and the Code of Conduct for public officials.

Despite the intense criticism, President Mahama has decided to close the chapter on the incident after accepting a formal apology from Mr. Gyamfi.

Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced at a press briefing that while the President finds the incident deeply regrettable, no further disciplinary measures will be taken.

However, Mr. Gyamfi has received a stern warning, and all public appointees have been reminded of the need to strictly observe ethical standards and maintain the trust of the Ghanaian people.

Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed the President’s unwavering commitment to accountability, stating that although the conduct was inappropriate, it did not rise to the level of warranting dismissal.
