The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong directive to all its members and aspiring candidates to suspend any form of internal campaigning until official nominations are formally opened.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the leadership emphasized that no individual is permitted to engage party executives or structures for support or votes ahead of the official timetable.

“The party leadership wishes to bring to the attention of all members and prospective aspirants at various levels that, until official nominations are duly opened, no individual is permitted to engage party executives or party structures in any form of campaigning or soliciting support for internal positions,” the statement read.

The directive, according to the party, is aimed at maintaining fairness and discipline within the NPP as it prepares for internal elections. It stressed that early campaigning undermines the authority of party structures and could disrupt strategic efforts being made toward a stronger performance in the 2028 general elections.

“Premature engagements not only undermine the authority of the party’s organs but also risk disrupting the careful and strategic efforts currently underway to reposition the party for victory in the 2028 general elections,” the statement noted.

The NPP called on its members, supporters, and stakeholders to abide by the directive, emphasizing the need to protect party unity and the integrity of its electoral processes.

“The Party remains committed to transparency, inclusiveness, fairness and due process,” it added, assuring that all relevant timelines and guidelines will be communicated in due course.

The party expressed gratitude to its members for their expected cooperation and support as it works to build a more united and formidable political force.
