Former President John Dramani Mahama led a vibrant procession through the streets of Kumasi on Sunday, as thousands of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters gathered for the “Enti Asanteman Aseda Ni” walk.

The march was part of his ongoing campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, aimed at rallying support ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Addressing the energized crowd, Mahama expressed his astonishment at the massive turnout, asking, “Is this Asanteman?” He further energized the crowd by declaring that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia “can’t sleep” due to the overwhelming NDC presence in the region.

In a passionate call to action, Mahama urged voters in Kumasi to “chase the elephant back into the bush,” referring to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) symbol, signaling his desire for a change in government.

Mahama also took the opportunity to dismiss claims by the NPP that the NDC would scrap the Free SHS program if elected, calling such allegations lies designed to tarnish the NDC’s image.

“We will not cancel Free SHS; we will improve it for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” he assured the crowd.
