Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has responded to critics who misinterpreted the statement made by the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during his post-election Thank You Tour.
Some critics have suggested Bawumia is blaming the opposition for the NPP’s defeat, citing factors like arrogance of power, high cost of living, and the e-levy.
Nana B, however, clarified that Dr. Bawumia is not shifting blame but speaking in a collective sense, including himself in the reflections on the party’s challenges.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen show with Kwame Tanko on Lawson TV/Radio, Nana B emphasized that Bawumia’s words are meant to encourage self-reflection and growth within the party, rather than placing blame elsewhere.
He also praised the Thank You Tour, describing it as a positive and energizing experience for the NPP, helping to reunite the party members following their electoral defeat.
Nana B expressed optimism for the future, stressing that with hard work and unity, the NPP has a strong chance of reclaiming power in the 2028 elections.
Furthermore, Nana B acknowledged the urgent need for reform within the party, including a revamp of the delegate system, as well as changes to the election process for party executives and the flagbearer.
He assured that significant changes would be coming to strengthen the NPP moving forward.
