The much-anticipated inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the iconic Black Star Square in Accra.

The event’s planning committee has detailed the security and seating arrangements to ensure a seamless experience.

Event Zones and Security

The Black Star Square will be organized into three main zones:

  • Zone 1: Parliamentary Sitting Area
    Reserved for invited guests with access granted only upon presentation of invitation cards.
  • Zone 2: Public Stands
    Open to the general public with robust security measures. Large LED screens will enhance visibility for attendees.
  • Zone 3: Media Area
    A dedicated section for accredited journalists, equipped to facilitate media coverage.

Traffic and Parking Adjustments

To minimize congestion and ensure smooth movement:

  • Road Closures: Key roads including 28th February Road, Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, Castle Road, and Starlet 91 Road will be temporarily closed.
  • Alternative Routes: Traffic will be diverted to Salem Avenue, Oxford Street, and Liberia Road.
  • Designated Parking: Available at the Independence Arch’s rear, State House Forecourt, and Access Bank Car Park.

Global Dignitaries and Media Presence

The ceremony will host a distinguished array of guests, including 10 heads of state, 2 vice presidents, a parliamentary speaker, 2 former presidents, and leaders of international organizations.

For media coverage, over 700 journalists have applied for accreditation. Designated media zones and centralized clean feeds will ensure comprehensive and streamlined broadcasting.
