Tragedy strikes Bawku as the death toll rises to 17 following a recent surge in violence. The latest victim, Tahiru Danbala, a young Forex Bureau trader, lost his life while traveling between communities caught in a deadly gun battle.

The conflict, reignited by the return of exiled rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre, has claimed seven women among the deceased since the violence erupted last Friday.

With escalating tensions forcing the closure of schools and businesses, the local community faces grave threats to both life and livelihood.

Recent ambushes on travelers have exacerbated the situation, contributing to a sharp increase in fatalities and injuries.

In light of these events, the Ministry of the Interior has implemented a curfew from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, following an emergency meeting led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and national security officials aimed at restoring order in the region.
