Bagbin Sends Mahama’s Ministerial Picks to Appointments Committee for Vetting
Parliament gears up for intense vetting of Finance, Energy, and Justice nominees

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has officially referred President John Dramani Mahama’s first ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee for evaluation and a subsequent report to the House.
The nominees include:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister-Designate for Finance,
- John Jinapor as Minister-Designate for Energy,
- Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister-Designate for Justice.
In a message to Parliament dated January 9, 2025, Bagbin stated, “I have received on your behalf a message from the office of the President… Honorable members, I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the House.”
Meanwhile, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has urged the nominees to be thoroughly prepared for the vetting process. “It is not going to be business as usual, so they should come prepared,” he remarked.
