Attack on Wenchi Police: Youth Free Prisoners, Injure Commander in Brutal Assault

Unidentified youth in Wenchi Municipality, Bono Region, launched a violent assault on Municipal Police Commander DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom, leaving him seriously injured, and freed eight inmates from police custody.
The attack, which also involved significant vandalism of the police station, occurred early Tuesday morning.
According to an anonymous source, the incident began when DSP Yiadom went to the Tohaba area to arrest a suspect, only to find the suspect missing. In retaliation, he detained the suspect’s pregnant wife, prompting a furious response from the youth.
They stormed the police station, vandalizing the commander’s vehicle, damaging office equipment including a flat-screen TV, fridge, and computer systems, and even breaking into the cells to release the prisoners.
DSP Yiadom is currently receiving medical treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital.
