Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club is actively exploring the transfer market for a new striker to bolster their attacking options following injuries to key players.
“My opinion is clear that we lost two very very important players, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. So we lack goals, we lack people, we lack options in the frontline, it’s clear,” Arteta acknowledged.
“It doesn’t just depend on Arsenal, on Mikel or our will,” Arteta said. “It depends on the market and a lot of different factors.”
Arsenal have been linked with various strikers, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, but Arteta declined to comment on specific targets.
Despite the challenges, Arteta highlighted the resilience of his current squad. “The team still copes with that,” he said.
Arteta also emphasized the importance of evaluating a player’s character beyond their on-field statistics. “I have seen it, I sense it,” Arteta said. “A player can score a lot of goals, great. How does this player react when he hasn’t scored for six or seven games? This is what I am interested in.”
