Outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated the Accra STEM Academy on Friday, December 27, 2024, a groundbreaking institution designed to advance education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This academy aims to equip students with essential skills in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.
The President also unveiled plans to establish 20 additional STEM centres and 10 model STEM Senior High Schools nationwide, enhancing practical education with cutting-edge equipment.
These initiatives are aligned with the country’s vision to prepare students for a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.
The Accra STEM Academy is fully equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, and research facilities to promote hands-on learning.
The government envisions the academy as a hub for innovation, where students can apply their theoretical knowledge to tackle real-world challenges.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the critical role of STEM education in positioning Ghana for future growth and innovation. He emphasized that equipping the nation’s youth with technical expertise is vital for the country’s development in various sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.
“These STEM-focused institutions will focus on fields such as coding, data science, and renewable energy, opening new pathways for students to engage with emerging industries,” he concluded.
